With its stone-like finish custom carpentry, the foyer makes a grand entrance while reflecting a sense of nature-inspired luxury. The grey tone and light veining are embellished with a series of sleek lines, which evokes a contemporary style. Creative Director Wynn Neo also worked in a display niche and a compact mirror to complete the well-dressed cabinetry.
Relaxing at home becomes an indulgent affair, especially with the sophisticated material palette employed by Wynn in this family home for four. This is made possible by first reconfiguring the living area. Wynn explains: “The allocated living zone was much too small for the family to unwind in comfort, so we expanded and integrated it with the shared communal zones.” This setup allows for a striking wall feature to anchor the spacious and stylish living zone.
The feature wall, constructed out of dark Calacatta marble-like laminate finish with gold bar strips is flanked by full-height timber fins, which camouflage the entrances to the common bathroom and kitchen. “We wanted to establish minimal visual distraction, so these natural-looking textures could take centrestage,” says Wynn of the functional design. “When these doors are shut, they become one with the elongated feature wall.”
The previous living area is now home to a rather unique bar counter. “In lieu of a regular counter, I wanted to conceptualise something with an asymmetrical form for a sense of lightness,” says Wynn. The striking form reduces visual bulk and is finished with a rich two-tone treatment of dark and light stone-like laminates.
The homeowners’ existing white Carrara marble dining table now resides in the balcony. This space encapsulates the idea of nature-inspired luxury where a vertical garden creates a fresh and relaxing backdrop for dining. The pop of green also helps to temper the starkness of the marble.
The master bedroom might be petite in size, but that does not compromise its style factor. For a boutique hotel style with a modern twist, MDF panels with wavy patterns were installed to establish a distinct but soothing focal point for the sleeping space. The rest of the setup includes a plush, padded headboard and a bedside table that maximises the tight footprint.
