What to see at the new Flexform Experience Centre in Singapore

The Italian furniture house known for its obsessive approach to materials and comfort has opened a by-appointment space with Rosso Italia Living. We went to find out what sets it apart.

Flexform has never been a brand that shouts. Founded in 1959 by the Galimberti brothers in Meda — a small town in Lombardy’s Brianza furniture district, long regarded as one of the historic centres of Italian furniture production — the company has spent more than six decades building a reputation on the principle that comfort, done well, doesn’t need embellishment. Now in its third generation, the family-run firm has recently opened a dedicated Experience Centre in Singapore through its exclusive partnership with Rosso Italia Living, the brand’s sole official distributor here.

Flexform Singapore

This isn’t a conventional furniture showroom. Operated by appointment only within the Luzerne Building on Bendemeer Road, the space is staffed by architecturally trained design specialists and set up so you can take your time with Flexform’s collections without the bustle of a retail floor. There’s also a configuration suite where you can map your own floor plan, try out different sofa compositions in your actual room dimensions, and walk away with technical drawings — handy if you’re mid-renovation or working with an interior designer.

There’s plenty to take in. The collections on display span modular sofa systems, archival reissues, and dining furniture — all designed and manufactured exclusively in Meda. Here are some of the highlights

Loungescape sofa

If there’s one product that captures where Flexform is headed, it’s Loungescape — and it’s on display at the Experience Centre. Debuted at Milan Design Week 2025, this modular seating system stems from what designer Antonio Citterio describes as ongoing research into the theme of living spaces.

The base is angled and set back from the edges of the cushions, lending a sensation of lightness to the structure despite an initial impression of monolithic solidity. Underneath, a patented pivot system locks the back and armrest cushions precisely into the one-piece shell, making cover removal easy — a detail worth knowing in Singapore’s humid tropical climate. Modularity and a choice of size options allow for numerous configurations, and upholstery is removable in both fabric and leather.

Crono

If Loungescape represents Flexform’s current direction, Crono is a quiet love letter to its craft heritage. Designed by Antonio Citterio, the collection brings together graceful proportions, solid wood workmanship and hand-woven cowhide cord — elements that speak to Flexform’s affinity with Italian cabinetmaking tradition.

Available as an armchair and dining armchair, Crono is defined by its visually light yet solid structure in Canaletto walnut, ash or oak, and by a backrest woven entirely by hand in hide leather cord, with colour options including black, tobacco, olive and chestnut. In the armchair version, the open weave is softened by an optional goose-down back cushion, while removable upholstery in fabric or leather keeps the piece practical as well as refined.

Ginger chaise longue

Every furniture brand has archival pieces it could bring back. Flexform’s decision to reissue the Ginger — designed by Antonio Citterio in 1984 — says something about the enduring relevance of this design. The chaise longue version is among the pieces on show at the Experience Centre.

It features a sinuous tubular metal structure in chrome or burnished finish that supports soft seat and backrest cushions. The goose-down backrest cushion rests against a leather-clad cylindrical bar on piano-wire springs that ensure optimal back support. A pivoting side table in leather-clad wood is integrated into the structure. Covers are removable in both fabric and leather, with grosgrain piping available in all colours on the Flexform sample board.

Worth the visit

What these three pieces have in common is a level of material and engineering detail that doesn’t translate on a screen. The cowhide cord weave, the weight of a pivoting side table, the give of a goose-down backrest — these are details you can fully appreciate in person during a visit to the showroom.

Flexform Experience Centre by Rosso Italia Living is located at 70 Bendemeer Road, #05-04, Luzerne Building, Singapore 339940. Visits are by appointment only.
