A resurgence from a past era, terrazzo is the new black – or grey, or whatever tone you’d like to have it in! Because it’s a composite material made from chips of marble, quartz, granite, glass and other suitable materials that are poured in situ or pre-cast, no two surfaces are alike.
Those lucky enough to have preserved the original terrazzo flooring in old flats should be glad, as it isn’t as readily available anymore. Pair it with clean-lined details and sleek geometry for a contemporary appeal.
#1 Normann Copenhagen Terra Table (above)
Designer Simon Legald fell in love with this material on a visit to an Italian terrazzo factory. The result of which are these elegant and rustic terrazzo top tables with steel legs. Expect a one of a kind terrazzo table by Kuhl Home, as no two patterns are alike. It’s available in two sizes for indoor and outdoor use.

#2 Planet Pendant Lamp
From Meraki’s Terrazzo Collection, this pendant lamp is made of recycled materials. Three terrazzo panels are pieced together to form an interesting 3-dimensional light that’s available in five colours including blue and red.

#3 Terrazzo Scented Candle
From the Materialism range, comes this terrazzo candle votive made of raw concrete and a generous splattering of monochrome marble chips. A hark back to the Brutalist design movement, this zesty fig infused candle makes for a stunning bedside accessory.
