Inspired by the homeowners’ love for natural materials and Northern Europe, their favourite travel destination, this house combines stone tiles, mirrored surfaces and wooden textures in an elegant and refined manner. A curated collection of furniture, art and sculptures give the living space a unique identity.
The common area juxtaposes display shelves with sculptural art forms that lend character. “Elements have to be read and used as a whole, not any single element can work alone,” says the designer.
The existing high-maintenance glass staircase guardrail was replaced with a panel of display shelves that also facilitates upstairs and downstairs transitions. “Open spaces allow the family members to constantly make eye contact with each other,” says the designer.
Being frequent travellers, this double-volume display panel with enclosed and open storage gives the owners yet more opportunities to personalise their space, and highlight travel memorabilia alongside other curated art and craft objects that they have accumulated over time.
With a lush and sensual ambience, the bedroom features dark carpentry and soft fabrics that create a sense of comfort. A cosy seating nook has been incorporated by the window for reading and quiet contemplation.
