Keeping it safe with neutral colours didn’t feel like the right choice for the owners of this condo. Working with their designers, Vin Shin Goh and his team from The Interior Lab, they decided that an infusion of colours would bring greater energy and character into the space and be more reflective of their personalities. Vin Shin says: “The homeowners are a married couple with a daughter, and the husband owns a restaurant while the wife is a homemaker. They enjoy travelling and the finer things in life.”
Using white as the backdrop, Vin Shin incorporated vibrant focal points in different parts of the home. In the dining area, the floral wallpaper becomes the centrepiece, infusing the space with energy and charm. The designer enhanced it with wainscoting details for added texture and chose a striking pendant lamp from Sol Luminaire to lend the space a touch of elegance.
A splash of blue on the cabinetry and peninsula counter weaves colour into the open-concept kitchen. A built-in wine chiller tucked beneath the counter brings added functionality and sophistication to the design.
The kitchen has been thoughtfully enlarged by integrating it with the service yard. “Originally, the space was quite dark and closed-in,” shares Vin Shin. “We replaced the low-lying false ceiling with a higher one, allowing more natural light to illuminate the area beautifully.”
While the resale condo’s original marble flooring was preserved, the walls in the communal areas were redesigned to make a statement. Wainscoting panels and a patterned mirror were added to the entryway, creating an elegant and welcoming entrance.
To fulfill the homeowners’ desire for a luxurious ambience, Vin Shin introduced a graceful arch detail to frame their display shelves. This feature harmonises seamlessly with the wainscoting accents on the walls, adding depth to the space.
To further evoke sophistication in the living area, touches of gold were introduced with a curated mix of furniture and a sculptural lamp from Sol Luminaire. These finishes elevate the design, adding a layer of refined luxury.
Extending the elegance of wainscoting accents into the master bedroom, Vin Shin selected a soothing shade of green for the bespoke panels. A feature wall adorned with these intricate panels serves as a striking backdrop for the bed, exuding a sense of grandeur. This design is complemented by a green shaker-style cabinet, which can be used to store small wardrobe essentials.
The remainder of the bedroom features full-height wardrobes with elegant shaker-style details. The understated design of the white fixtures and walls creates a clean backdrop, allowing the green panels to command attention and serve as the room’s focal point.
Continuing the soothing green palette, the master bathroom features whimsical ice cream-shaped tiles that add a playful charm to the space. Vin Shin incorporated a practical shelf beneath the mirror for easy access to toiletries, complemented by a generous vanity counter decked in quartz.
By blending the homeowners’ unique style with thoughtful practicality, Vin Shin and his team have transformed this resale condo into a highly personalised sanctuary.
