All the great things that happened at LBDA 2019 Gala Night

On Thursday, 5 December 2019 at InterContinental Singapore, Lookbox Design Awards (LBDA) 2019 Gala Night brought the design industry together in one unified night of celebration.

The awards ceremony saw 200 leading members of Singapore’s design industry in attendance, where 11 Winners and 8 Honourable Mentions were announced across 11 award categories. Of course, our judges were in attendance to celebrate and present the awards to the deserving talents.

Lights dimmed, suspenseful music played, and thunderous claps followed each time a winner was announced. But that’s not all. A scrumptious four-course dinner was served along with free-flow beverages throughout the evening, which helped pace all the excitement over the awards.

Guests were dressed to the nines and busied themselves with the many activities at the ballroom foyer, prior to the commencement of awards.

A spectacular rug installation by Hassan’s Carpets had many flocking to take group photos and #OOTN photos. Indeed, the multi-layered installation served as a fantastic backdrop, while showcasing the beauty and diversity of the rug collection from Hassan’s Carpets.

Opening the awards ceremony was Janice Seow, Programme Director of Lookbox Design Awards and Editor of Lookbox Living, who shared the objective of LBDA: to give recognition to, and to celebrate the interior designers in Singapore, and the homes they create.

Also sharing her experience and insights through a keynote speech was Nikki Hunt, Founder and Co-CEO of Design Intervention and judge for LBDA 2018 & 2019. She noted the importance of a design awards like this, which gives budding designers a platform to reach greater heights.

A special category – Outstanding HDB Flat: People’s Choice, proudly presented by Commune – was also honoured, whereby Lookbox Living fans and readers voted for their favourite project amongst the Outstanding HDB Flat Shortlist. One lucky voter was invited to attend the Gala Night and went home with a Trigg End Table (featuring a solid Carrara marble top) from Commune, valued at S$479.

Apart from the award trophies and plaques, many more prizes were given away. This year at the LBDA 2019 Gala Night, there was a pool of S$10,229 lucky draw prizes courtesy of De Dietrich, Fisher & Paykel, Hafary, InterContinental Singapore and Janus et Cie. The most impressive being a Fisher & Paykel Black ActiveSmart Fridge worth S$5,099 that was on display that night.

The lucky winner was as ecstatic as the award winners, and it was indeed a fantastic celebration and a great way to end 2019 and a high and hopeful note.
